For the second year in a row some lucky students and clients at LADACIN Network were gifted with adaptive bicycles, courtesy of RallyCap Sports and the McLindon Family Foundation. The presentation was made on March 20th at LADACIN, and Andrew McLindon, Luke Sims of RallyCap Sports and the Jimmy Plasteras Family were on hand to share in the celebration. The Plasteras Family donated the funds for the bike in memory of Elaine Plasteras, wife of Jimmy, who passed away in December of 2015. She was the sister-in-law of Paul and Margo Hooker, owners of RallyCap Sports.
This year, a student and a client from the Schroth Center and a student and a client from the Lehmann Center were selected to receive bikes. Andrew McLindon and Luke Sims both addressed the crowd and Erin Plasteras Mickel shared the story of her stepmother and the legacy she wanted to leave to help people with disabilities enjoy independence and an active lifestyle.
As the recipients’ names were called, they came forward to get their new bikes and take a victory lap around the Great Room, to the cheers and applause of the family, friends and classmates who were there to share the excitement with them.
After everyone received their bicycles and got a chance to try them out, they all presented the Plasteras family with a thank you card. Whanda even painted a picture of a bike to commemorate the occasion! We are so grateful to the Plasteras Family, RallyCap Sports and the McLindon Family Foundation for their generosity and for making our clients and students so happy!
