More than $45,000 was raised this year at LADACIN Network’s Virtual Plunge. The virtual event kicked off on January 16th and ran through January 30th. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Agency decided to shift the LADACIN Annual Plunge to an all-virtual event for 2021. The Virtual Plunge left it up to the participants as to where, when and how they would plunge. Plungers and supporters came up with creative ways to show their plunging talents. There were slip and slides, buckets of icy cold water, kiddie pools and even some brave souls plunging into the ocean.
The event was held to support LADACIN’s educational, therapeutic, social, residential and support services for over 3,500 infants, children and adults with complex physical and developmental disabilities or delays living in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. The LADACIN Plunge was founded and organized by Joseph J. Russell, Jr., Esquire of Manasquan, Shareholder and Chair of the Family Law Department at Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer. Joe’s cousin, Elizabeth “Liz” Hartnett is a client of LADACIN Network, and has inspired his involvement in supporting the Agency. Liz’s father, J. Michael Hartnett, was a long-time Agency Board member and advocate for people with disabilities. To date, the event has raised over $1,048,500 for the Agency.
At the end of the two week long Plunge extravaganza, a live raffle was held on February 6th and one lucky individual won a 55” Samsung Smart TV. Prizes were awarded for the Most Creative Video, the Best Costume, Most Creative Plunge and the Top Individual Fundraiser.
Deal Lake Bar & Co, Loch Arbour, NJ was the Event Sponsor. In addition to sponsoring the event, they also created a limited edition cocktail, the Chilly Willy in support of the Virtual Plunge. They made a donation directly to LADACIN Network for each drink sold between January 16th and January 31st.
