Early Intervention Services
Babies learn more skills in the first three years than at any other time. Many of these skills develop in the first year and serve as building blocks for later development. Babies learn and grow at different rates and some babies need a little extra help. It is important to get some help if you or your baby’s doctor has concerns about reaching some of those developmental milestones. Early intervention provides supports and services to children and their families so that families can help their child learn during everyday activities and routines.
The mission of the New Jersey Early Intervention System (NJEIS) is to enhance the capacity of families to meet the developmental and health-related needs of children birth to age three who have delays or disabilities by providing quality services and support to families and their children.
LADACIN Network’s Early Intervention Program provides early identification, evaluation, and comprehensive services in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Eligibility evaluations are available in Monmouth County by the Targeted Evaluation Team. Early Intervention services build on the child’s strengths through developmentally appropriate activities. Services encourage social, language, and physical development through purposeful play and other educational and therapeutic activities.
Eligibility for Early Intervention Services
Referrals come from a regional single point of entry (SPOE) office in the Regional Early Intervention Collaborative (REIC). The REIC can be reached by calling 888-653-4463. This number will connect you with the NJ Early Intervention System. You can also get information on the NJ Early Intervention website at www.njeis.org.
LADACIN Network solely provides eligibility evaluations to all identified children in Monmouth County by the Targeted Evaluation Team (TET). The TET is a group of highly trained specialists consisting of Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapists, Behavior Specialists, Special Educators, Child Development Specialists, Teachers of the Hearing and Vision Impaired, and Social Workers. Using the Transdisciplinary Model, the TET evaluates Monmouth County children for eligibility into the NJ Early Intervention System and also provides additional assessments to enrolled children as the need is identified.
