Art is an integral part of our students’ day. Laser pointers, adapted equipment and use of technology assist our students in the expressive creation of facilitated drawing and painting.
Our annual Empty Bowls project, where students create clay bowls as a fundraiser for local food pantries, connects them to the community and raises their awareness of social issues.
Our music classes reflect the heart and soul of our students! Performance opportunities abound, with our annual holiday extravaganza, “Schroth Idol”, and “Seussical the Musical” are some of the musical/theatrical highlights. Assistive technology facilitates our students’ access to musical instruments through switch-adapted drums and other instruments accessed through the iPad to allow full student participation.
Physical Education (P.E.)
Students in the preschool program are offered P.E. one time per week. The elementary-secondary programs receive supported P.E. services two times per week with the PT department. P.E. classes encompass a variety of school based as well as community-based activities that take us out into the community and create opportunities for interaction with typical peers, enhancing the lives of our students. Community-based activities include therapeutic swimming, adapted bowling and ice skating.
