Services for Adults with Disabilities

Adult Day Activities

The Lehmann Center in Lakewood and the Schroth Center in Wanamassa offer adult day activities for adults with developmental and/or multiple physical disabilities.
 
Emphasis is placed on skills to enhance independence. Vocational exploration opportunities are developed to meet the needs of the individual.

Transdisciplinary Services Available:

  • Occupational, physical and speech therapy, evaluation, and treatment

  • Social work services
  • Assistive technology evaluation and training, including augmentative and alternative communication

  • Eligibility for Adult Activities:

    Adults who have developmental and/or multiple physical disabilities are eligible for adult activities. Some services require Medicaid.
     

    Adult Vocational Programs

    Lehmann and Schroth Technical Education Centers and Access Unlimited
    LADACIN Network provides vocational training, an in-house paid work program and job placement services for supported and competitive employment for adults with developmental and/or multiple physical disabilities.
     
    Vocational Training - Emphasis is placed on secondary and post-secondary vocational training in the areas of child care, food service, computer/office skills, micrographics and custodial/maintenance services. Clients work along with Agency staff to develop skills in these areas.
     
    Access Unlimited, an adjunct of the program, provides in-house work via contracts with firms in the business community. Bulk mailing and packaging services are also offered.

  • Eligibility:

    The applicant must be an adult who has developmental and/or multiple physical disabilities and demonstrates an interest in pursuing a vocation. Applicants should be registered with the Division of Developmental Disabilities or the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services.
     

    Supported Employment

    Supported Employment facilitates competitive work in integrated work settings for individuals with developmental and/or multiple physical disabilities for whom competitive employment traditionally has not been available, and who, because of the nature or severity of their disabilities, require ongoing support services to ensure job performance. Integral to LADACIN Network’s supported employment services is the assistance of representatives of the business community who provide information regarding needs of the community, leads for job placement, and advice in structuring job searches.

    Access Unlimited will be updating their document imaging and retention program thanks to a grant from the Kessler Foundation.
     

    Medical Day Care

    Medical Day Care is provided at the Schroth Center, and has a licensed capacity for 20 individuals. Services are designed for adults who have more comprehensive medical needs, the need for more intense program monitoring and who are not pursuing community employment. The Agency's Medical Director acts as a consultant to this program.

  • Eligibility for Adult Medical Care:

    Adults over the age of 18 who have Medicaid eligibility, who do not live in a 24 hour inpatient facility, whose needs cannot be met in an ambulatory care setting, whose need for services includes nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and/or assistance with one or more activities of daily living are eligible for Medical Day Care.
