LADACIN Network’s 3rd Annual Polar Bear Plunge, held on January 15, 2011, was an overwhelming success.  Hundreds of supporters packed Leggett’s Sand Bar and Restaurant in Manasquan for pre- and post-event activities.  A parade, headed by U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard, the Friendly Sons of Shillelagh bagpipers, former NY Giants player Howard Cross, and LADACIN client Lizzie Hartnett led the 207 plungers to the Atlantic Ocean for the plunge. The event raised $86,000 to support the programs and services that LADACIN provides to infants, children and adults with disabilities in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Many thanks to Joe Russell, event organizer, and the many sponsors, participants, and volunteers who time and generousity made this fundraiser a huge success. The community spirit and sense of commraderie that surrounded the event is captured in the photos below.
